As I have said before carignan is like a drug to me…and this little number doesn’t disappoint. Nine dollar Priorat!?! Seriously WTF and it’s good.
Chapillon, Rêves 2006 – Priorat DOQ – 40%
crack Carignan 35% Garnacha and 25% Syrah.
Black berry, cedar box, black olive and spice on the nose. A dense palate of rich dark berry fruit and smokey oak and tobacco. Finish isn’t super long, and it’s not got much more time left but hey it’s nine bucks.
Went great with my carnitas, rice and salsa verde.
The Trader Joe’s wine buyers have done themselves well here!
